Foams are processed, capable of absorption and for the use in gynaecology and surgery. The blank has a stiff, dry and porous structure. A robot arm picks it up, followed by different steps with different tools until the desired form is achieved.  Machines that are used in the area of medicine need to operate lubrication-free. This is only one specific advantage of igus® bearings. All pivot bearings have been, for example, replaced with xiros® polymer ball bearings. The vertical Z-axes of the robot is made of a drylin® W high profile rail, which considerably simplifies the design. Other improvements at the gripper are currently underway.
