A fast XY positioner / portal robot “MaXYposi” is the base for in-house designed CNC machines for drilling, and equipping of circuit boards, for laser machining, plotting, cutting and milling. It is driven by a toothed-belt that is guided via pulley principle, and is five to ten times faster than spindle-driven systems, as well as twice as powerful. The X and Y rails run on drylin® bearings. Fine and aggressive dust occurs during drilling and milling of circuit boards, which do not affect plastic bearings. There is in addition a price advantage for plain bearings and aluminium rails, compared with recirculating ball bearing guides with steel shafts. Drylin® W rails with the size 10 are self-supporting at the manageable dimensions of this machine. The design with drylin® bearings is extremely simple and affordable.
