TR.P triflex Condition Monitoring shows OK status, stop, and damage detection in the interface.

Smart condition monitoring for robotics - the TR.P system

Long service life, predictable maintenance, maximum system availability - these issues are more important than ever when companies start automating processes with robots.
To fulfil all these requirements, igus now offers the TR.P system!

The TR.P system measures the tensile forces on the robot head. If predefined maximum values are exceeded, it triggers a reaction via a potential-free contact. This can be a message to the operator or even a stop of the robot.

By implementing the tried-and-tested i.Sense and a modular sensor system on the moving arm of the triflex dress pack, it is possible to identify problematic movements: excessive bending, overextension and damage due to jamming might impair the dress packs and can be identified at an early stage without creating and evaluating image material. This saves a lot of time as operators can recognise challenges to the energy supply system during commissioning, and damage to the energy supply or the cables and hoses to be guided can be avoided.

TR.P is also suitable as a measuring system for "problem robots". It helps operators identify problematic movements when dress packs are used during commissioning and later in productive operation and find solutions before damage occurs.

Condition monitoring + predictive maintenance = smart maintenance

smart plastics infographic with i.Sense for condition monitoring and i.Cee for predictive maintenance.

Condition monitoring (i.Sense)

Condition monitoring is the easiest and quickest way to turn many igus parts into self-monitoring smart plastics products. By attaching sensors, operators can measure forces during operation. If they exceed predefined limits (e.g. sudden peaks caused by a blockage or chain break), the system issues an alarm or at least a notification. This information provides the basis for next steps, maintenance or shutdown. If required, values outside defined limits can trigger a system shutdown immediately to avoid expensive damage. At igus, we use the term "i.Sense" to refer to condition monitoring.

Predictive maintenance (i.Cee)

Predictive maintenance uses sensors, software and the elements of condition monitoring to create a system that allows dynamic service life calculation and determines the best times for the maintenance of igus products. This makes predictive maintenance the next step in achieving a comprehensive concept for smart energy supply and bearing technology. This system offers a wide range of designs and a high degree of customisation. The goal is always to maximise system and user safety as well as product service life. At igus, we call our predictive maintenance system i.Cee (derived from "I see ahead").
